Smacky News is moving

For various reasons, we’ve made the decision to move the news and pictures/videos of Smacky over to Ashley’s private blog.  Many of you are already reading over there, but in case you aren’t, and you’d like to, either email me or use the “Contact Derek” at the bottom of my main website and request it.  We’ll add your email to the list and you’ll be able to be caught up with our little man.

Sorry about this, but it’s probably for the best.

I’ll still have DPOD stuff here (hopefully more frequently – work has been kicking my patoot), disc golf musings, random thoughts, and maybe a wine review – it’s been WAY too long for that.

For each day in 2010 (give or take) I’ll be showing a picture from somewhere in my life with a little explanation as to what it is.  Enjoy the trip down memory lane.  (CLICK HERE TO GO TO THE ARCHIVES!)

The Worst Dressed Puerto Ricans Ever
Date: Winter, 1998
Location: New Brunswick, NJ

Description: The first two years of college were the height of my “I’ll dress any way I want and I don’t care” phase.  I was comfortable in the clothes and, feeling like an outcast anyway amongst the actors, it didn’t bother me getting strange looks everywhere.  However, my roommate at the time Ricky couldn’t believe that I’d wear those clothes in public.  He wore much more traditional flannel shirts and ‘zippy’ pants.  So we made a bet to wear each other’s clothes for one day.  We both felt incredibly awkward the entire day, but I think he more so than me.  Either way, this was the trial run, when he and fellow Puerto Rican raided my closet for a fashion show.  This would not be the last time friends of mine would do this with my closet.

Colorsplosion
Date: Fall 2001 (?)
Location: Harriman State Park, NY

Description: As the DPOD has stated in the past, Harriman State Park was a common hiking destination for me and my friends, specifically Perpendicular Point.  What made it spectular was the view, particularly in the middle of autumn, and that fact that it wasn’t a difficult hike.  You know the trees are giving you a full show when you don’t even immediately notice that Corey’s hair is bright blue.  This was one of the last trips I took there, due in part to spending my travelling time playing disc golf instead, often seeing rival scenery.

Hello old friend

It’s been way too long since I’ve posted.  Work has been chaotic BEFORE I was in charge of three separate departments.  Now that I am, I don’t have time to sneeze, never mind update my eight followers about my life.  I will try to be more on top of things, but I make no guarantees.

Speaking of things I’m not on top of, did you know I have not one Twitter account, but TWO?  Because I didn’t.  And when this came out, Jay seemed like he blew a secret by telling me.  Shouldn’t I know that I have a Twitter account?  Anwyay, what this means is that hopefully in 2011 Poodles and Velcro’s Twitter will at least be back up.  I make no such prophecies about Flash Dash, which I’m afraid may have seen its final days.

We’re all sick over here, but on the mend.  I’m looking forward to my next vacation, which at this rate will be in 2039.
