The new Dirty-Dozen List is up (about two weeks late).

The ‘ish: Better Late than Never

I’ve been particularly delinquent in my posting.  Don’t know why – just kinda lazy and enjoying married life.  If you alread live with someone and have a child, married life is little different.  But man, we are still smilin’ so something went right.

The weather was beautiful – a bit warm at the end of the ceremony (temps in town hovering around 100) but at Tahoe the weather chilled down to about 50 at night, so it was a perfect range.  Really, we couldn’t have asked for better weather.  Here’s a few pics of the actual ceremony.

We were going casual, as can be attested by our Master of Ceremony’s jeans being ripped.  Well, gotta give Bryan credit, he didn’t try to outdress me.  Or anyone.  Truth be told, Landen was the cutest, and I don’t think we got a whole lot of pics of him in his fancy outfit.  Hopefully Jon grabbed a few.

We went in for our first dance, Jonathan Coulton’s “You Ruined Everything“  Had a number of comments how that song was pretty perfect for us, and we agree.  It’s as if it was written for the situation all three of us found ourselves in.  Speaking of the three, of us:

And others also got together for some sweet times.

It was a bit warm and there was no alcohol at the ceremony (hooray for dry!) so everyone packed up early and we headed up to Tahoe for some silliness.  Some more so than others.  Um, me more so than others.  But Landen as always stole the show.

Future GQ model……         or is he ready NOW?

Speaking of him, he wants dinner – leaving you with some family pics.  If ANYONE has more weddingish photos, please send ‘em this way.  Thanks to Sara and Stephanie already since I stole some of your photos.

Be Prepared!

weddingishweatherNOTE: remember that Tahoe is usually ~10 degrees colder than Reno.  So it could drop into the 30s at night.  Yeah, you pretty much need to bring your entire wardrobe.

Cabernet Sauvignon #2

Smoking Loon Cabernet Sauvignon (? Year) – I have been told in the past that I’m not the best wine reviewer in the world.  That’s a lie – people have never told me that because it’s more or less implied by the very nature of this column.  And it’s been well documented that I’ve had some bizarre and embarassing wine faux pases (faux pai?) with wine.  And this wine was no different.

I will go on record as saying Smoking Loon Cab is the strongest wine I have ever tasted.  I am not talking strictly taste here.  It did not, as some “experts” have probably said, leave you with the taste of smoked pine, or of eurethane or some other assinine comparison for a potable treat.  In fact, I am not even referring to the taste of the wine.  I’m pretty much just referring to the bottling.  Heck, I’m talking about the cork.  It has a REALLY strong cork.

cork1cork2That’s right.  It broke my corkscrew.  At first I realized that this was both good and bad.  I mean, it’s good because its cork is highly protective, embottling the ashen pine/eurethane taste for all to enjoy.  It’s bad because I had to use my backup corkscrew, which was, until that moment, not as effective.  I came to realize that there was another plus to this whole incident:

cork32I created an awesome weapon that, if held properly, looks just like you are holding a useless old cork and, if held another way, can slowly bore into a person’s kidneys.

I suppose this wouldn’t be a typical review if I didn’t actual mention the wine itself, even if briefly.  It is certainly not the best cab in the world, but it has one thing going for it: price.  At about $6 a bottle, it gets the job done.  And really, you can’t buy anything else that strong at such a cheap price.  It’s a steal.  6.5/10 (the .5 is for weaponry.)

FIERCE!

Landen’s gonna become quite the hunter some day.  And he won’t even need any weapons.

Weddingish Info

Not much new here, but some healthy reminders.

HERE is a map of the locations.  You’ll be given actual maps here with some rough places highlit, but if you want to do some printing of smaller maps in the meantime, here are the addresses.

HERE is a link to the rough itinerary.  We are hoping for it to be final, but we will have a 4 month old – who knows if ANYTHING will go as planned.  I think we’ll consider the weekend a success if we actually make it to saying I Do at some point.

Finally, to clear up some confusion, the “Friend Dinner” is for ANYONE who wants to come (family included.)  We just never changed the name – the dinner is before the friends and we play some ‘Dash, so it was just called the Friends’ dinner.  But we like to consider our family our friends too.

In the tradition of doing everything out of order (honeymoon before wedding, baby before engagement), hopefully I’ll be having some type of bachelor party next time I’m on the East coast (in July).  Since we won’t legally be married until August, I don’t feel so lecherous.

Any questions?

MLB: WTF?

It was pointed out to me today that, at the start of today, the leaders of the three AL divisions are:

*AHEM*

The Toronto Blue Jays

The Kansas City Royals

The Seattle Mariners

If that’s not the sign of the apocalypse, then something else probably is.

Random Thank You

We got a random package from a T-shirt company with three onesies for Landen (all accordion based.)  There was no name on it, and the attached message didn’t say who it was from.  Whoever sent them, THANK YOU!  I’m sure there will be pictures very soon.  Something tells me there will be many pictures taken in the next few weeks…
